TURA: A lone GNLA cadre who has been absconding since the surrender of eight other cadres in North Garo Hills on March 12 this year has gave himself up to police on Monday.
Ronjit G Momin (25) from Dorakgre Village under Rongrong bordering East and North Garo Hills surrendered before Superintendent of Police Sacheng R Marak in the presence of other officials, Church leaders and former rebels.
According to police, Momin revealed during interrogations that he was used by the GNLA as porter, cook and logistics supplier under Rahul Marak’s command, who was among those that surrendered on March 12.
“He met Rahul at Nongalbibra in 2017 and was used by the group to carry their heavy weapons. After being with Rahul’s group for a month, he left the group and has been absconding since,” district police chief, Sacheng R Marak said.
