SHILLONG: The NPP MLA from Bajengdoba, Pongseng Marak, said on Tuesday he was asleep when his PSO ‘accidentally’ shot at the former’s help on Sunday night.
The MLA also clarified that the help was shot at not because he refused to bring liquor for him.
The PSO identified as Minibath Sangma was later arrested and the help, Siling T Sangma, is undergoing treatment at NEIGRIHMS for bullet injury on his left rib.
The MLA said the victim is a student hailing from Bakenang village under Resubelpara and has been staying with him since May this year.
He said the incident took place at 10 pm on Sunday at his quarters, Chandralaya Bungalow, Bivar Road, in the city. “I do not know whether the PSO was in a drunken stage, but he went to the room of the student and pulled the trigger of the revolver and one person called me to inform about the matter,” Marak said.
The bullet was stuck in the left rib of the victim and he was to be operated on Tuesday.
Pistol belongs to another PSO
The MLA also revealed that the pistol used by Minibath to shoot at the student belonged to another PSO identified as Phillus T Sangma. “Phillus took leave and Minibath did not inform me that he was using the pistol of Phillus,” the MLA said.
