GUWAHATI: Three persons were injured in a blast that took place in a coach in the Kamakhya-Dekargaon Intercity Express(No 15815) near Harisinga Railway Station in Assam’s Udalguri district at about 7 pm on Saturday. The cause of the blast was yet to be ascertained.
A Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) official claimed that three persons were injured as a result of the blast in coach No. 4 of the train even as eyewitnesses claim that several people were injured,
One of the injured has been identified as Rahul Das who was referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Two other injured were admitted to the Harisinga Civil Hospital.
The NFR official claimed, “It has been suspected that the blast was caused due to short-circuit.” The blast took place when the Dekargaon-bound train was stranded at Harisinga.
Senior police officials including the IGP of Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District Council (BTAD) Anurag Agarwal, rushed to the incident site.
