TURA: Organisations from Dalu including the GSU, AYWO, GSMC along with senior citizens have raised concern over the deplorable state of the Dalu Community Health Centre (CHC) which is responsible for catering to the medical needs of a large number of population from the region.

The organisations said that while the CHC is overcrowded beyond its capacity, nothing has been done to increase the staff in the centre which has led to extra burden on the existing understaffed employees. According to the organisations, two posts of doctors which were left vacant over two years ago are yet to be filled till date. The organisations also alleged negligence of duty by the dentist posted at the hospital.

In terms of hospital equipment, the organisations informed that the X-ray machine installed at the hospital has been non-functional for the last five years but nothing has been done to repair the old one or replace it with a new one. The organisations also claimed that patients were also facing many difficulties due to the unavailability of an ambulance.

Another problem raised by the organisations was the shortage of usable water at the hospital. They claimed that patients and their attendants alike were facing difficulties due to water scarcity.

According to the organisations, a complaint letter with regard to all these issues was earlier submitted to the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO). However, they lamented that nothing has been done to rectify the matter.
