SHILLONG: The Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organization (CoHSO) will meet the CEMs of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) in the coming week.
Speaking to a section of reporters on Friday, president of CoHSO, Robert Kharjahrin said the two ADCs should issue a strong direction to instruct the Dorbar shnong, dorbar hima and dorbar raid to be vigilant of entry and settlement of illegal immigrants in their respective areas.
“In the absence of any legislation such as the ILP, the institution that protects the influx is not the government but it is the dorbar shnong,” the president of CoHSO.
He has appealed to the Dorbar Shnong to be watchdogs over the entry of illegal immigrants, as the NRC spill-over effect also pose a threat, the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and the environmental refugees from Bangladesh.
