Barak river festival begins in Manipur

Imphal: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Thursday inaugurated the 1st State Level Barak Festival, held under the theme, ‘Sustaining Peace and Harmony’, amidst much fanfare at the Mini Stadium Ground in Senapati district headquarters.
Earlier, the Chief Minister unveiled the Barak Monolith and opened the festival with the lighting of the festival lamp using the fire taken from the first position winner of the traditional fire making competition. Colourful cultural items of different tribes of the districts were also presented during the event. The festival will also host various events such as Miss Barak, Barak Voice Hunt, musical night, DJ nite among others. (UNI)
