SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) petitioned Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Law Minister James Sangma to make necessary appeal/review before the appropriate forum on the judgment and order pertaining to the Amon Rana vs state of Meghalaya.
In the letter to the CM and the Law Minister sent on Thursday, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council stated the demographic structure of the state will hamper if foreigners are allowed to enter the country without any cut-off year.
Further, the council said national security is at risk if foreigners irrespective of any religion or community be granted Indian Citizenship.
The organisation demanded from the state government to intervene and make representation to the Prime Minister, law Minister, Home Minister, MPs not to bring any law to allow foreigners from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan in the country without any documents.
