SHILLONG: The Meghalaya High Court has set aside the order of the District Council Court allowing the assistant secretary of Shella Dorbar to hold a Dorbar. Addressing reporters on Saturday, Shella Dorbar secretary Wanteikupar Swett said he was restrained for eight months by the District Council to hold a Dorbar following which he filed an appeal in the High Court of Meghalaya.
He said peace and harmony returned to Shella after it was mutually agreed by all parties that only the secretary elected by the people would be able to call a Dorbar.
“According to the traditional practice of Shella, only the secretary can call a Dorbar and not the assistant secretary,” he added.
