SHILLONG: Meghalaya is once again set to celebrate Christmas as various pre-Christmas programmes and events were held across the state.
Many of these programmes were organised with an aim to provide aid to the lesser privileged and financially challenged.
Pre-Christmas at Police Reserve
A pre-Christmas programme was organised by the East Khasi Hills District Police at the Police Reserve on Monday. The programme was attended by senior police officials including H Nongpluh, IG, (TAP), AR Mawthoh, DIG, (ER). Gifts were also distributed to 15 families.Christmas charity
St. Anthony’s School Past Pupil’s Association (SASPPA) organised the 3rd pre-Christmas-cum- charity event at the school premises on Saturday. This year’s event was held for the benefit of the children of William Lewis’ Boys Home in Mawphlang and included various activities like paintball shooting, live music, food stalls and many others.
Established in 2013, the SASPPA has been actively involvead in sharing the joy of Christmas with lesser privileged children in society. Expressing hope on future events, SASPPA urged all past pupils of the school to support the cause.
FKJGP’s Christmas support
Meanwhile in Ri Bhoi, the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People Umling Circle on Monday celebrated Christmas with more than 150 economically backward families from 15 villages in Umling. The members distributed gifts and blankets.
