Lajong look to redeem away fortunes against Chennai

SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong will be up against Chennai City FC in what will be their 6th I-League away fixture of the 2018/19 season in Coimbatore at 5 pm on Saturday.
The match will telecast live on Star Sports 3 as well as on Jio TV & Hotstar.
In their previous fixture, Shillong Lajong lost to Kolkata side, Mohun Bagan by a 2-0 score line on December 23. The Reds are currently at the bottom of the table with four points. They have scored a total of ten goals and each of those goals came from – Mahesh Singh (2 goals), Rakesh Pradhan (1 goal), Phrangki Buam (3 goals), Samuel Lalmuanpuia (1 goal), Samuel Kynshi (2 goals) and Allen Lyngdoh (1 goal).
Meanwhile, the host, Chennai City FC lost their last match at home against the newbies, Real Kashmir FC by one goal. They have won five games, drawn three and lost just once.
In the pre-match press conference that was held earlier on Friday, Coach Alison Kharsyntiew said, “Chennai City is a good team and is at the top of the table and has been playing good football in all the games and they have been winning matches as well.”
“It is going to be a very difficult game but we will put our best efforts.”
“We have a very young squad and they need lots of encouragement and motivation so that they can perform better. They need to play the game with confidence and learn from the mistakes. But we are lacking in defence so I hope they will give a good performance,” he concluded.
