State level masters badminton championship draws to a close

SHILLONG: The state level Masters (Veterans) Badminton Championship 2018 was hosted by the Meghalaya State Badminton Association from December 27-29 at the U Tirot Sing Syiem Indoor Stadium. The 35-plus Men’s Double category was won by Anil and Pradeep while the 45-plus category winners were Dr. Puia and G S Rynjah. In the 50-plus Men’s Single event Rangjop Kharrubon was the winner while R B Das and E Swer claimed the 50-plus Men’s Double title. The 55-plus Men’s Single winner was Thanchungnunga while the doubles’ title was won by H Passah and W B Syiem. From this tournament, the Badminton association has selected a state team comprising of 16 players to represent Meghalaya in the forthcoming 43rd Master (Veterans) National Badminton Championship to be held in Goa from January 28 to February 3, 2019.
