SHILLONG: The UDP and the HSPDP, which contested the last Assembly elections on a pre-poll alliance, is going to contest the upcoming district council election with “a close understanding”.
UDP leader Allantry Dkhar said though both parties have no such alliance but they have a close understanding with each other. Dkhar also informed that the party has to announce the names of six more candidates for the KHADC while few names are to be announced for JHADC, which will be done shortly.
He said the party has launched its campaign and the campaigning trail will be more aggressive in the days to come.
When asked about the Congress’s plan to target regional parties for hobnobbing with the BJP during its campaigning for the district council elections, Dkhar said the Congress is a master of rumour mongering and misleading the people. “One example is that the parrty during LS election often says that the voices of the regional forces will not be heard but Professor GG Swell went on to become the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha,” he said.
