Stall shut for using Bible pages as napkins

SHILLONG: Two organisations from the state have closed down a tea stall, ‘Sharma Tea Stall’ at Umsohsun for using pages from the Holy Bible as paper napkins.
The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) along with United Hynniewtrep Movement (UHM) met the owner of the tea stall and demanded an apology from him tendered through the media.
The organisations closed down the shop until the owner issues the apology. Owner of the tea stall, M. Sharma apologized for the mistake which has hurt the sentiments of the Christians and said he will no longer use the pages from the Holy Bible as paper napkins.
He added that old books are bought from junk sellers and did not know they were pages from the Holy Bible.
