SHILLONG: The State Election Department is still awaiting orders from the Election Commission (EC) for holding the Selsella bypoll.
Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor said the vacant seat has to be filled up before April and they are still awaiting the orders from the EC for holding the by-election.
Both the probable candidates of the NPP and the Congress have started their campaigning while the BJP is not sure if it would field a candidate.
The Congress is likely to field June Eliana R Marak, the widow of Clement Marak, as its candidate and NPP is likely to name Ferlin CA Sangma for the bypoll.
Selsella seat fell vacant after the death of Congress MLA Clement Marak in October.
