The FIR has been signed by 21 members of Barpeta District Youth Congress (DYC) including its president Anwarul Islam Khan .

The Barpeta Districtr Youth Congress has accused the minister of making false statements during the TV talks show  about heavy presence of ‘Bangladeshis Muslim foreigners’ in Baghbar LAC where over 90 % populace have already been included in the draft National Register of Citizens (NRC).

The FIR also stated that the minister’ statement regarding shifting of Moinbari Satra to Sarbhog due to ‘aggressive behaviour’ of local Muslim community was baseless and false. The DYC cliamed that the vaishnavite Satra, in fact, had to be shifted because of river erosion and local Muslim population provided all possible help in shifting the Satra property to its new location in Sarbhog on October 28, 2005.

It may be mentioned that the senior minister in the Assam Cabinet headed by chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has been very vocal in advocating for the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 that has faced heavy protest in Assam from several organisations.
