SHILLONG: A major portion of Mawphlang-Balat road which connects the rest of the country to Bagnladesh border, is in dilapidated condition for long.
Local MLA from Mawsynram, HM Shangpliang said that the Deputy Chief Minister had assured on the floor of the House that the road would be taken up on priority basis but nothing had been done on the ground till now
It is learnt that a long distance of 25 kilometer of the road is in bad condition and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) last year had inspected the road besides the road from Dangar to Ryngkhu which is in dilapidated condition though it is an international border road
It is said that the repairing of the road assumes significance in view of the safety and security of the border.
However, it is learnt that the government is working on administrative approval of the road. There are 18 wooden bridges in Mawsynram which needs to be repaired.
