SHILLONG: The NEIGRIHMS authorities have issued a showcause notice to Synrang Batngen Warjri, DM, senior resident (academic), for speaking to the media.
The notice, which was issued to him on January 9, said a report published in this newspaper has maligned the reputation of the institute and added that such act also amounts to violation of the institute’s conduct rules.
Responding to the allegation, Warjri accused the director of NEIGRIHMS, DM Thappa, of harassing a tribal student.
“I remember clearly that the referred article in the memo has nothing to do with the remote/past/recent policies or actions of the central or state government. There is nothing in the article which may have any effect of jeopardising the Centre and the State relationship except the honest opinion on one DM Thappa, Director (NEIGRIHMS),” he said in response.
He said the referred article was written with a purpose to save the institute even as he added that he had made several efforts to give his suggestions to stop the harassment and anti-institute activities and allow the institute to progress with its pace but the director never gave him any patient hearing.
