SHILLONG: The Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organisations (CoHSO) will hold a public meeting at Khliehriat West on January 28 at 11 am to create awareness on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
In a statement issued here, president of East Jaintia National Council (EJNC) Sambormi Lyngdoh, on behalf of CoHSO, urged the public to participate in the programme to send out a message of unity of the minority communities.
He raised concern on the increasing influx of illegal immigrants in East Jaintia Hills and the state as a whole which will have an impact on the economic activity of minority groups.
Criticising the BJP, Lyngdoh went on to allege that the bill is an attempt of the saffron party to wipe out the indigenous communities.
