SHILLONG: In a noble gesture, NEEPCO has decided to help Mawdem village get preventive healthcare service through telemedicine.
The NEECPO accepted a pilot model proposal submitted by Think Zero Initiative on behalf of Dorbar Shnong Mawdem, Hima Nongkhlaw Syiemship, Jirang C&RD block in Ri Bhoi, making it probably the first village in the state to undertake and utilise this kind of technology.
The service will be provided by iKure Techsoft Pvt Ltd, which recently received awards from the United Nations wherein residents of remote Mawdem and the neighbouring villages will benefit from the service.
The sanction order letter was handed over on Monday by NK Mao, General Manager, (E/M), Env. & RR Wing, CSR, NEEPCO.
It may be recalled that Mawdem under Nongkhlaw Syiemship is about 140 km from Shillong and it takes about six hours to reach there.
After deliberations, NEEPCO authorities accepted this unique proposal as a measure to support rural healthcare in Meghalaya through innovative ideas.
