NONGPOH: United Democratic Party (UDP) leaders of Umroi circle have decided to oppose allotment of party ticket to FD Ramsiej for the district council election on February 27.
The decision was taken during a meeting on Saturday.
Ramsiej had earlier resigned from the UDP after he was denied ticket during the Assembly election last year and along with him, more than 65 units of the party were also dissolved in protest against the central leadership.
Ramsiej later joined the NPP and was given the post of president in Ri Bhoi. However, he rejoined the UDP last December.
In a letter addressed to the UDP president, the Umroi leaders said Ramsiej’s anti-party activities were the main issue that this time the party’s ticket should not be allotted to him.
They also informed that if ticket is given to him, majority of the party workers will not support him and they will quit the party in protest.
