P N Syiem to contest MDC polls as NPP candidate

SHILLONG: Former CEM of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), PN Syiem and sitting MLA of Mawshynrut, Gigur Myrthong are declared as the NPP candidates for the Council polls.

The election committee of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has declared the third list of candidates comprising of only two, on Thursday.

Syiem will contest from Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah constituency and will face his former People’s Democratic Front (PDF) colleague, James Ban Basaiawmoit.

The NPP has so far released the names of 23 candidates in the first list and four candidates in the second list.

Syiem is currently the MDC of Mawsynram when he had contested on a Congress ticket. He floated the PDF after the Congress had suspended him for alleged anti-party activities.

However, he quit the PDF alleging he was sideline by the PDF members and joined the NPP recently.
