SHILLONG: A 22-year-old woman from Shillong is set to create history as she will be part of the first all-woman Assam Rifles contingent march at Rajpath on Saturday when the country celebrates its 70th Republic Day.
Pasi, the daughter of M Pasi and T Nongkynrih, is the first woman Assam Rifles soldier from Madanrting.
She is currently doing her graduation from St Anthony’s College and she was a Rajya Puraskar (Governor) award winner in 2012, besides a former NCC cadet.
It may be mentioned that she is the first woman to be part of the 72nd Infantry Day and will perform the duty of a wreath bearer during the ceremony.
Pasi’s journey from Madanrting to Rajpath was not easy as she left her home and adorned the uniform, picked up the rifle and trained hard.
