GUWAHATI: The Northeast now has a strategically-located regional warehouse to facilitate seamless distribution of Janaushadi generic medicine across centres.
Union minister of state for chemicals and fertilisers, Mansukh L Mandaviya inaugurated the regional warehouse of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana (PMBJP) at Pamohi here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mandaviya said the warehouse in Guwahati, set up by the Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI), would facilitate seamless distribution of Janaushadi Generic medicines to all PMBJP Kendras functioning across the region.
“More than 5000 Janaushadi kendras with various medicine are available across the country and out of which 150 have been set up in North East,” the minister said.
He also said that medicine available at Jan Aushadhi Kendras is 50-80 per cent cheaper than the average market price.
Delivering the welcome address, chief executive officer of BPPI, Sachin Singh said the Janaushadi stores provide quality medicine at an affordable price and the opening of the warehouse would help to supply medicine in an uninterrupted manner in all the stores of the North East.
The Union minister also visited Central Institute of Plastic Engineering And Technology (CIPET) at Changsari near here and the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), here earlier in the day.
