Retired IAS official passes away at 92

SHILLONG: A retired IAS official, Norsing Nongbri, passed away on Sunday. He was 92.
Nongbri, who was a resident of Lummawrie in Laitumkhrah, joined the Assam Civil Services in the early sixties and was nominated to the IAS rank in the early eighties. He served in the government of Assam before bifurcation of the state.
During his service, he held many important assignments such as director of Industries, Managing Director MCCL etc. He retired in 1988.
Nongbri is survived by his wife, Jrinmon Roy Thangkhiew, and five sons — RS Thangkhiew, PS Thangkhiew, HS Thangkhiew and SS Thangkhiew.
