SHILLONG: The Cabinet on Wednesday approved extension of medical facilities to spouses and children of retired judges.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters that the Law Department brought a corrigendum to include spouses and dependent children of retired judges for medical facilities.
As per the state government rule, only retired judges availed medical facilities.
Earlier, the single bench of the High Court of Meghalaya headed by Justice SR Sen had directed the government to revise the rule as follows: “Retired judges/spouse/children”. So, it means that they should include spouse and children for medical treatment”.
