SHILLONG: The chairman of the State Planning Board and independent MLA, Lambor Malngiang has decided to join the fray for the district council elections.

He would contest the elections from Nongkrem constituency which he currently represents as an MLA.

Lambor Malngiang on Tuesday said that people from his constituency wanted him to contest the MDC election.

He said he would like to pursue Village Administration Bill and other important Bills which are pending.

“I would like to debate on these issues for safeguarding the interest of our people,” he said while adding that he is confident of winning the MDC elections since the people of the constituency last year elected him as their MLA.

Malngiang will file his nominations on Wednesday.
