SHILLONG: Many have secured bail in connection with the assault of the victims, Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma on November 8.
According to the status report of the investigation officer filed before the High Court of Meghalaya, out of the nine accused whose names were provided to the court in a sealed cover, six have been granted interim bail by the district court.
Besides, out of 14 accused who have been arrested or approached court for relief, six are in jail, six secured interim bail and two are on bail on medical ground.
Test identification parade has been conducted on three accused persons.
Blood samples on weapons and victims have been collected and will be sent to CFSL Laboratory, Kolkata.
There was also an order regarding nine absconders.
Out of them, two, Nidamon Chullet and Cheerful Ryngkhlem had already surrendered.
However, Graham Lyngdoh and Lucas Shylla have challenged the order of proclamation as absconders and the case is pending though it was listed on February 4 in the High Court.
