TURA: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) has decided to take up with the government the matter of early appointment of qualified doctors in the vacant posts left behind by the transfer of two senior specialists recently at the Tura Civil Hospital.

Earlier, two senior women Pathologists who were heads of department (HOD) of the Blood Bank and Laboratory respectively were transferred from the hospital.

Following the news report of the transfers, a delegation of the MPYC along with sitting MDC of Boldamgre, Stevie M Marak paid a visit to the hospital where they were informed by the Superintendent, Dr Minakshi A Sangma that the transfers were affected based on their seniority. However, as the absence of qualified doctors would affect the functioning of the two facilities, the Youth Congress has decided to take up the matter on an urgent note.

“These are crucial departments and before the transfer of these doctors, replacements should already have been found to take their place. Both the transfer orders for the doctors and their replacements should have been made on the same day and the replacements should have come immediately. Since we will be taking reports everyday regarding this matter, we would like to request the government to expedite the process at the earliest,” MPYC President, Richard Marak said.
