Tourist from Andhra Pradesh drowned in Sohra

SHILLONG: A young tourist from Andhra Pradesh was drowned at Sohra on Thursday morning.

Police said that the incident occurred when a 22-year-old tourist from Andhra Pradesh, Ravi Chandra was swimming and he drowned in Rainbow falls near Living Root Bridge on Thursday morning

His body was recovered around 3 pm.

Police said that the body would be handed over to the family members of the victim after the post-mortem report and other formalities

This is not the first time when a tourist was drowned in a river in Sohra. There had been many instances earlier too when few tourists lost their lives in similar way in Sohra.

Last year, two youths including one from  West Bengal were drowned at Janailar stream in Sohra after attending NH7 Weekender on Saturday.
