Kudos to the citizens of Tura town for taking upon themselves the task of cleaning Tura town which now looks extraordinarily clean. Yes cleanliness is next to Godliness. Tura looks clean now just because this town of Garo Hills is hosting the 145th ABDK Soba. If not for this religious event nobody would care to clean this old rugged town which is famous for its heap of dirt and filth. We all want to see a new Tura with a new image which is well kept and neat. This will come about only if the civic authorities of the town together with the Government Departments, the citizens of Tura and most importantly the local MLA who is now the Chief Minister join hands and lead from the front in this quest. Let us all hope that Tura town will always remain clean even after the Soba and let cleanliness be observed always right from the homes of every Turaite.

Mamata Didi and her tantrums

How does one describe the tantrums thrown by W. Bengal CM, Mamata Banerjee? Much has been heard of her insincere rhetoric. But they are just accepted as politically correct. She has larger elite fraternities who have fallen for her, and her “likes” and “dislikes”. Therefore, there was no outcry when Rohingyas were welcomed by Didi. Instead, many hearts melted and sympathies were expressed. ‘They are tortured and deported from Myanmar, so India should be kind to provide them shelter ’ – this narrative of humanity was tactfully put forth while other activists kept mum. Here smart people know well how to juggle between, “silence and noise”.
A few days ago Didi began a sit-down drama with her gaze towards the Centre. The West Bengal CM in flip-flops has now willfully stepped on the very Constitution of the country. She also unchained the police forces and set them on the CBI! What does one call the sit-in strike by the CM and the Police officers against the Central Government? This strange dharna has been dubbed by Mamata’s allies as a Dharma. Never was the chit-fund less or no fun for the Bengal CM and her followers though it brought countless poor people to grief. Lakhs of families have already fallen into ruin. SIT is just an eyewash.
If one sincerely analyzes the posture and gesture of Mamata in her tenure of the past 15-years, one is deeply apprehensive. Her intense love for votes has long soiled her blue and white Sari. And her love for the pink and green notes has apparently driven away her saintly soul which she often claims to carry. Without any sense of regret, she had sent the brute force to the Hills in 104 days of bandh that left 15 Gorkha citizens dead. Many of those killed were also the siblings of the soldiers that are now protecting the nation from the enemy, standing day and night along the rugged and icy Indo-Pak borders.
The Bengal CM could not yet identify who really “protects” the country and who actually really endangers it. But the irony is that all her unconstitutional misdeeds are hardly brought out and discussed to question her. Well, Didi has taken many such steps that have already started to pose potential threats to the original Bengali. It is quite clear now that she has “sowed” the seeds that are going to be grow into a jungle of nettles. They will surely sting not only the body but the heart and soul of the citizens of West Bengal and other states. What with her TMC Cadre? They are legitimatized goondas. Hardly any FIRs are accepted against TMC’s misconducts.
Now coming back to the present case, today Mamata is emboldened to challenge even the enforcement machinery from the Center. She vehemently misinterprets the constitutional guidelines. No wonder, she has a brigand of other colleagues who carry the same ideas, same agenda, and the same mission. True, soon after the unprecedented standoff between Police and CBI, Didi has received bountiful wishes from Rahul Gandhi, Sitaram Yechury, Chandrababu Naidu Mayawati, Mulayam Singh, Kejriwal et al. Her well-wishers also include those forces that want to see India being broken to pieces. One wonders when we could tell apart Didi’s Sanyasini outfit and her true character. Let’s be smart before it is too late, else the country will not be in safe hands.
