MAWKYRWAT: The public mandate for Renikton L Tongkhar in last year’s Assembly election has heightened HSPDP’s confidence about winning the council election from Mawkyrwat.
Nolip Lyngdoh, the party’s candidate from Mawkyrwat, said after filing in his nomination paper in Mawkyrwat on Thursday, “We have no doubt of winning the council election, especially after many prominent leaders like YG Lyngdoh (former president of PDF Mawkyrwat), B Marbaniang (former general secretary of UDP Mawkyrwat circle), Jeslanroy Nongsiej (former working president of UDP Mawkyrwat) and others joined the party.”
Lyngdoh said people in Mawkyrwat consider HSPDP as the party that stands for the rights of indigenous people.
“Though there are issues, especially with some political parties targeting us, they (the rivals) will not be able to take away the trust that people have in our party,” said Lyngdoh, who is also the president of HSPDP Mawkyrwat.
Lyngdoh was accompanied by Tongkhar and other prominent leaders.
Another prominent leader in Ranikor, Sisferykansis Wanniang, from Mawpud village filed his nomination paper as an independent candidate from Langrin.
