SHILLONG: A NEEPCO official, who got two promotions in 2014 and 2017, secured a law degree from Shillong Law College attending classes and being in the office at the same time!
The classes at Shillong Law College are regular after the part-time courses were abolished. According to documents, the NEEPCO official identified as Raman Kumar Jha got promoted from deputy manager (finance) to manager in 2014 and from manager to senior manager in 2017 while at the same time, he was enrolled in the law college.
As per the Shillong Law College records, Jha was admitted as first semester student in 2014 and his roll number was 88.
In 2017, he passed out the sixth semester among other 26 students.
While the timing at Shillong Law College is from 10 am to 4 pm, the NEEPCO office timing is 10 am to 6 pm.
Questions have been raised as to how can the official attend classes at Shillong Law College and be present at NEEPCO at the same time.
Sources said “there is something wrong” either with NEEPCO or Shillong Law College.
Jha, however, was not available for comments.
