SHILLONG: District Council Affairs Minister James Sangma on Friday said preparations for the February 27 elections to KHADC and JHADC were on in full swing and two the district administrations were all geared up for the exercise.
He said adequate security has been put in place.
Asked about the proposed amendments to the Sixth Schedule and the fear of mid-term polls once the bill is passed in Parliament, he said the usual procedure of any constitutional amendment is that it is referred to the Select Committee and there is certain time frame within which the report is to be submitted.
Counting of votes will take place on March 2.
