KSU visit finds CHC at Pynursla without a doctor

SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Pynursla unit, which is under the KSU South Central East Circle, alleged anomalies in the functioning of the Community Health Centre (CHC), Pynursla.

On inspection of the CHC, the union alleged the absence of a doctor while the emergency room was without any staff.

Vice-president of the unit, Vorrozislov Sohkhlet, said, “When we went to visit the CHC, we found a patient who urgently needed medical intervention.”

“There was only one nurse on duty and even the chowkidar is not available,” he added.

The union members also spoke to some patients who informed them that proper healthcare facility were found wanting in the CHC.

Sohkhlet informed that they have met the authorities of Directorate Health Services (DHS) who have assured them to send doctors to the CHC. The assurance is still pending.
