NESO wins support of SP, DMK

SHILLONG: A North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) team on Monday met with leaders of Samajwadi Party (SP), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) in New Delhi to seek their intervention in the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
The team met SP’s Rajya Sabha MP Javed Ali Khan and DMK’s Rajya Sabha MP Tiruchi Siva.
Both the leaders assured NESO that their parties will vote against the CAB in the Rajya Sabha.
Earlier, the NESO team also met BPF Rajya Sabha member Biswajit Daimari who assured that he will vote for the interest of the indigenous peoples of Assam and the North East. The BPF is an ally of ruling BJP in Assam.
The NESO team is also set to meet with other political parties soon.
