Resubelpara: Governor of Meghalaya, Tathagata Roy undertook a maiden visit to Resubelpara on Sunday where he interacted with district heads of various line departments and also heard the demands and grievances voiced by local leaders of the area.
The Governor apprised that his intention is to conduct a tour of all the district headquarters of the state and interact with the officials and prominent leaders as instructed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During the meeting, several demands were made by the local leaders in terms of improving road connectivity, setting up of additional health centres, upgrading of PHCs to CHCs, repairing of school infrastructures, construction of irrigation canals among others.
A demand to introduce science stream at Mendipathar College which is the only degree college in the entire district was also made.
Referring to the Soksan bridge which is lying in a dilapidated state, the Governor observed that road connectivity to the heart of the district is ‘poor and unsatisfactory’ as the district is still new.

Deputy Commissioner, SC Sadhu requested additional funding from the Central Government for which he said several proposals have already been made to the State Government in this regard.
On law and order, Superintendent of Police, SR Marak added that the region is so far peaceful and his department is on constant vigil to prevent any untoward incidents.
