Guwahati professor held for FB comment against armed forces

Guwahati: A college professor has been arrested in Guwahati over her alleged derogatory remarks against the CRPF and armed forces following the Pulwama terror attack. Guwahati Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar said on Sunday that the accused, Papri Banerjee, was arrested by Chandmari police on Saturday. He said, “We had received various complaints about a post on Facebook by the profession, Papri Banerjee, and a case was registered at Chandmari police station. In this connection, she was arrested yesterday.” “She was later released on bail and has been called for further questioning on Monday,” he added. Banerjee, who teaches English at Icon Academy Junior College in Guwahati, had accused the Indian armed forces of rape and other atrocities in Jammu and Kashmir in a FB post. (UNI)
