Speaker condoles death of ex-Assembly official

SHILLONG/New Delhi: Assembly Speaker Donkupar Roy and Commissioner and Secretary Andrew Simons have expressed their sadness over the sudden passing away of R.Kothandaraman, ex- principal secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
He had also served as a legal advisor to Speaker, Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Government of Nagaland.
A renowned advocate by profession  Kothandaraman drafted the memorandum to Presidents  and Prime  Ministers for lifting the ban on coal mining in  Meghalaya under the Sixth schedule of the Constitution. Incidentally the case came up for hearing  in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. He also drafted the memorandum to Prime Minister  for B Barua Commission and lifting of controversial ban of beef in the region.
Late Kothandaraman was an expert on parliamentary procedure and constitutional matters. Condolence has been conveyed to the bereaved family.
