SHILLONG: The 2nd Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous 2019, North-East Region was kicked off on Thursday in which delegates arrived from all over the country; including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Punjab, Bengal, Gujarat, and Meghalaya.
Speaking at the convention, Father George said, “In life we experience many ups and downs. Even our personal relationships are characterised by ups and downs, but my relationship with Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon is up, up, and up.”
Dr. Jasmine Lyngdoh said it is disheartening to encounter diseases like cancer, diabetes, cardiac diseases and so on but the disease of alcoholism disturbs us even more for it affects the functionality of the individual and deprives them of their abilities to maintain his status quo in society.
With the convention, the Chairperson and the Trustee stated that AA Shillong is even more energised to serve the community and help the still suffering alcoholics and their near and dear ones.
