SHILLONG: The Union Health Ministry on Monday cleared the proposal of Meghalaya Government for creation of a state-of-the-art diagnostic centre in Shillong.

Informing this, Health Minister, AL Hek said that the Union Government had also sanctioned Rs 40  crores for the project and the centre would be constructed on a land  in Pasteur Institute in Shillong.

In this diagnostic centre, various kinds of investigation be it MRI, blood tests, X Rays, will be done free of cost.

The idea  has been mooted since people have to pay huge amount of money in private clinics and diagnostic  centres for conducting various kind of tests and investigation for the patients.

. The proposed diagnostic centre will help the poor who have to spend huge amount of money on medical tests

The  state government will outsource recruitment process for the centre as the department does not have enough manpower. However, the department will require more funds for equipment and other necessities
