TURA: A 20 year old man has been arrested by police after he lured a minor girl into a nearby forest in Dalu area of West Garo Hills and committed rape, last week. He was taken into custody on Monday.
The accused identified as Jebi S Sangma of Rengsingpara village under Dalu police station in the border region tried to entice the 12 year old girl, who was playing outside with her other brothers and sisters, by giving her five hundred rupees to accompany him to the nearby forest.
Despite being sexually assaulted by the accused, the little girl somehow managed to run back to the house to inform her family of the attack.
The family alerted the police and the accused was arrested under the POCSO Act this week.
