Budgets presented in Tripura, Nagaland

AGARTALA/KOHIMA: Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday presented a tax-free and zero-deficit budget of Rs 17,530.46 crore for the fiscal 2019-20.
In Nagaland, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who is in-charge of Finance Department, sented a tax-free deficit estimated accumulated negative Budget of Rs 1611.98 crore for the year 2019-2020.
In his Budget speech, Rio said that the total estimated receipts were calculated at Rs 17,604.48 crore and the expenditures were calculated an estimated Rs 18,012.73 crore. The balance is calculated at Rs (-) 408.25 crore, Public Account (net) was at Rs 457.95 crore and the current transaction calculated at Rs 49.70 crores. The current year’s transaction is estimated to result in a positive balance of Rs 1,661.68 crore, the year 2019-2020 is estimated to close with a negative balance od Rs 1,611.98 crore.
Later after presentation of budget, addressing a press conference at the Nagaland Assembly Secretariat, Rio termed the Budget for 2019-20 is a people friendly budget as the budget did not impose any new taxes or placed any additional burden on the common people in order to generate revenue.
In Tripura, Dev Varma, who is also the finance minister, said the collection of own tax revenue is projected at Rs 2,048.95 crore, while non-tax revenue is estimated at Rs 285.21 crore in 2019-20. (Agencies)
