SHILLONG: UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh has blamed the previous Congress-led government for the power shortage in the state leading to load shedding.
Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, he recalled his opposition to the 12 power deals signed by then Chief Minister Mukul Sangma in 2007.
“I voiced my opposition to these power deals as these will lead nowhere,” he said adding that they had to be scrapped after 10 years.
He added, “The attempt to improve the power scenario in Meghalaya is a waste and the Congress is to be blamed.”
Due to power shortage, the Power Department has resorted to power shutdown in the state.
According to Lyngdoh, miscreants usually take advantage of the dark to commit crimes.
