SHILLONG: The Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Tura which has been completed a long time back will be inaugurated on Thursday.
Home Minister, James Sangma will inaugurate the ISBT in the presence of Urban Affairs Minister, Hamlet Dohling and Transport Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar.
Dohling said that since the project has been initiated by Urban Affairs department, it will hand over the project to MTC. It will depend on the Transport department to examine and decide who will run and maintain the bus terminus.
It may be mentioned that ISBT Tura was lying unutilized though it was completed a long time ago and there were also reports that the place has become a den for criminal activities.
The Centre had sanctioned Rs 45 crore for the project that covered 90 per cent of the total cost.
NBCC provided the remaining 10 per cent.
The Tura Inter State Bus Terminus will accommodate 50 buses at a time plying to and from all corners of the state to the West Garo Hills region.
