GUWAHATI: Assam government has undertaken implementation of infrastructure development, water supply and beautification projects to the tune of Rs. 650 crores in four major cities of the state including Guwahati, Nagaon, Dibrugarh and Silchar under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation for water supply project besides kick starting renovation works of three recreational parks as well as installation of high mast LED lights at Nagaon town in a programme held at Nehrubali in Nagaon district on Friday.
Stating that implementation of development schemes under AMRUT would benefit 28 thousand families of Nagaon town, Sonowal said that being a historic town Nagaon made significant contribution in spiritual, socio-political, literary and cultural life of the state.
Further saying that huge numbers of projects are being implemented for improving infrastructure and beautification of all 98 towns of the state, the Chief Minister came down heavily against the Congress party for its 55 years of mis-governance in the state.
He also said that the union cabinet gave its approval for construction of a new bridge over river Brahmaputra connecting Dhubri with Phulbari with budget outlay of Rs. 5 thousand crore, which was a strong testimony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unparalleled commitment towards development of the state.
He also observed that financial allocation of Rs. 14 lakh crore in the budget last year for improving rural livelihood and economy has brought distinctive positive change in the villages.
On state government’s uncompromising tirade against corruption, which he vowed to continue to make administration corruption free.
