Williamnagar Municipal Board to collect holding taxes from April

TURA: The Williamnagar Municipal Board (WMB) has adopted a resolution to collect holding and property tax from both the Government and private buildings under its jurisdiction under the provisions of Meghalaya Municipal Act, 1973.

The official notification issued in this regard by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WMB said that the board in its meeting on 28 January last had taken the decision to collect the taxes on lump-sum basis with effect from 1 April this year.

According to the notification the rate for Govt. buildings will be Rs. 1000 per year. Likewise, for RCC private building Rs. 400, Assam type private building, Rs. 250 and kutcha private building, Rs. 200 respectively per year.
