SHILLONG: CLP leader Mukul Sangma has attributed the defeat of the Congress in the JHADC to money and muscle power of the opponents.
The Congress secured only four seats in the House of 29 in the JHADC whereas the party bagged 10 seats in the KHADC.
Referring to the JHADC, the former chief minister said the kind of videos being circulated indicates there was use of money and muscle power in the run-up to the polls to the JHADC.
He, however, hoped that change will take place gradually and voters will be aware of these dangers.
As far as the KHADC is concerned, the Congress leader admitted that efforts were made to reach out to the parties in the ruling to form a stable alliance.
“The mandate in the KHADC is clear that the verdict is against the ruling alliance like in the case of Assembly polls since we have emerged as the single largest party,” Sangma said.
Mandate to boost MDA: Conrad
Thanking the people for the support and the faith they reposed in NPP and all the constituents of the MDA, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma assured that the MDA government will continue to work for the betterment of people.
He said the MDA government will take the mandate forward and work in unison to achieve other goals.
