Cleanliness drive held in Nongstoin

NONGSTOIN: The District Swachh Bharat Mission in collaboration with the State Swachh Bharat Mission conducted the school IEC activities at the office of the superintendent engineer, PHE Westem Circle Compound in Nongstoin recently.
The activities included a rally, an exhibition, a painting and drawing competition besides others. About 300 students from different schools participated in the rally and carried placards on cleanliness and hygiene.
The programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony where Deputy Commissioner T Lyngwa attended as the chief guest.
The programme was presided over by D Shabong in the presence of the state consultant SBM, Markwest Kharkongor, and district consultant DSBM, West Khasi Hills, B Pariong.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner lauded the initiative and praised the effort of the SBM staff.
He also appreciated the fact that various components of the SBM exhibits will enable children to visualise the technology adopted, which will make the task of disseminating information to their parents and household members much easier.
Later, students from United Secondary School, Rambrai took part in a skit based on the theme and objective of the programme. The programme concluded with the prize distribution in which Anderson Higher Secondary School won the first prize in the slogan competition followed by United National Secondary School, Rambrai and Assembly of God Secondary School, Siej lieh.
