SHILLONG: There is no end to the city’s traffic problem despite several meetings and deliberations and Monday was just another day that witnessed a huge traffic snarl.
In most part of the city, the traffic moved at snail’s pace and many commuters chose to walk instead of taking taxi. A middle aged woman returning from office said she decided to walk after seeing the long queue of cars on the road.
A police official said the city witnessed traffic snarls probably because it’s the beginning of the month and people from outskirts of Shillong came to the city for market day.
“In addition, Monday is a bazaar day and people come out in hordes. Also, there was Mahashivratri,” the official said.
