GUWAHATI: Chief minister, Conrad Sangma has said that parties and politicians should not “politicise” national security or raise questions on the valour of our armed forces.

“I certainly do not want to be part of a discussion which is engaged in counting the number of terrorists killed by the Indian Air Force (IAF) strike in a Pakistan camp on February 26. As a political leader, we always stand by our armed forces and support them,” Sangma said here on Wednesday.

“What they (IAF) did is something which should not be diluted by asking for numbers, or seeking proof (on the casualties inflicted), which would be an insult to them,” he said.

The chief minister further said that national security was an issue which could never be compromised and that there was no room for belittling their work with politics.

“Every citizen, every political party and politician must be behind our armed forces,” he added.
